Pet Photography Blog

The pet photography blog is where you can find images from all of Outside The Lines photo sessions, and see what we are up to.

Our images are not fake, we are just that good

Is That a Backdrop?

For this image a question I am often asked is “is that a backdrop?”

No. It is not a backdrop. This is a sunrise session in front of the US Capitol Building in DC. Yes, we really were there for this image at 5:30 in the morning!

There are other dog pictures we have taken that may seem Photoshopped or fake. They are not. Our main editing consists of enhancing the image slightly by adjusting the colors and brightness. Then we edit the leash out. However, all the dogs are in the actual locations and the sky really looked like what you see in the images.

Look that this image.

Does it look fake? Over-edited? Stunning? Colorful? Amazing? Something you want?

We know how to use any location to our advantage to get the best images. This image was captured in Bowie, Maryland at an abandoned horse racing track.

At Outside The Lines Pet photography we capture all pets on location, not inside, and not in a studio. In fact we don’t even have our own studio. It’s not something we want to invest in since we do all the sessions outdoors. We come to your home with samples for your consultation and ordering appointment so a studio is unnecessary. Our photography style is just an outdoor enhanced version of reality.

We are not against photoshopped images, and in our creative images we do a lot of photoshop. Those images are not on our main portfolio page and you can generally tell they are photoshopped due to their abstract artistic nature. For example the image below, titled “Graffiti Artists” was photoshopped. In fact the editing took about 8-10 hours to complete.

However, on average what you see is real. If we photographed your pets where would you like the session to take place?
