Schedule Your Session Far in Advance

We are not in a rush to do your session unless you are!  However, we do have people schedule months in advance especially if it is winter and they want a spring or summer session.  There are a few other reasons why you should schedule far in advance.

1. We only schedule 8-10 pet portrait sessions per month

In order to make sure you get exactly what you want we take the time to get it right.  Everything we do takes time but spending the time with you allows us to give you exactly what you want and need.  We consult with you beforehand, work with you during the sessions, and follow up with an ordering appointment to select your art. Then we hand deliver  and hang your wall art. All your questions are answered, the session is in the perfect location, and we show you exactly how the art will look on your wall.  With all the time this takes we only take 8-10 clients per month.  That means the earlier you schedule, the more likely you will be able have your photography session during the time of year you want and in the best location.

Schroeder had a blast at his dog photography session which was in the afternoon on a warm summer day.

2. Select the best season and time of day for your pet

Some pets like it hot, some like it cold, and others like it just right.  If you want the green vibrant grass and foliage of summer then you'll want to make sure to book ahead of time.  However, if summer is to hot for your pet and you want spring then you'll want to plan ahead to get the perfect spring weather.

A wonderful time to schedule your session is during The Cherry Blossom Festival at the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC.  We can usually only get 2-3 of these sessions in per year, since the blossoms don't last long.  On the other hand, you may want the vibrant fall colors which are best from October to the beginning of November.  Shenandoah is obviously at the top of everyone’s list during this time and your pets will really stand out against the colors.

Some pets do best in a morning sunrise session when other people are not around, and when the temperature is a bit cooler.  Others may be fine with an afternoon or evening session and you don't have to get up so early!  Either way if you schedule months in advance you will have more options.

3. Choose the best day of the week

Do you prefer a weekend or a weekday?  Our pet photographer is available throughout the week, and on the weekends.  However there are only so many weekends in a month and if you would like a Saturday or Sunday we recommend contacting us in advance.  Also keep in mind if you are looking to have a particular day and a particular event/season in your photos then you will want to contact us early.  Maybe you want a Thursday afternoon during The Cherry Blossom Festival or perhaps you want a Saturday morning full of fall colors.  Either way let us know!

Other Questions:

Wyatt stands outside just before sunset during his photo session that occurred in the early fall.  We actually started planning his session in May but scheduled the session for October.

What if there are poor weather conditions on the scheduled day?

If the weather does not allow us to do the session as planned we will reschedule.  We try to leave a few unscheduled weekends and weekdays each month for rescheduling due to weather or other emergencies. So if your weekend or weekday session is rescheduled there is a good chance we can get you in during the next week.  You are looking for amazing pet portraits and whenever possible we will move our schedule around to make that happen.

What if I need to Schedule a Session Right Away?

Don't worry we may still be able to get you in.  With 8-10 sessions per month we have a bit of flexibility to get you in when it's needed in a rush.  We try to set aside a few unscheduled weekends and weekdays each month for rescheduling sessions and for sessions that must occur right away due to various reasons.  You may have a senior dog or a terminally ill dog who you would like to capture your family portrait with.  You could also be moving out of state and want to get your pet portraits captured in DC before you go.  We can definitely work with you, just give us a call at (240) 334-7694 and we'll figure it out together.

We look forward to working with you and your pets during the days, times, and seasons that are best for you.  Give us a call at (240) 334-7694 or send us an email at and we'll set up a consultation at your home.  No need to book ahead of time until you've met us.  Looking forward to meeting you!
